UGREEN USB 3.0 to SATA Converter

UGREEN USB 3.0 to SATA Converter

Product Description

The UGREEN CM257 (60561) USB 3.0 to SATA converter connects a bare 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch SATA hard drive or SSD to a computer over USB-A. It is a good way to read an old drive, back up files or turn a spare disk into external storage without a case.

A spare drive in a drawer, or a laptop drive you need to read on another computer, is useless without the right case or adapter. The UGREEN CM257 USB to SATA adapter lets a compatible drive connect to a USB port. Drive sold separately. It is made for people with a spare SSD or hard drive, and technicians who copy or recover drives.

Key Features and Benefits

• USB to SATA bridge: Connects a bare SATA drive to a USB port.
• 2.5 and 3.5 inch: works with SATA HDDs and SSDs of both sizes.
• USB 3.0 speed: 5 Gbps interface, and listings mention UASP support.
• Bus-powered 2.5 inch: 2.5 inch drives run from USB power; 3.5 inch drives need a separate power supply.

Made for Life in Nairobi and Across Kenya

Reuse a spare laptop drive as portable backup storage, carry large video projects between the office in Nairobi and a client site, or read an old drive on a laptop without a SATA slot.

Buying and Setup Tips

• Check your drive type and size first: SATA or NVMe, 2.5-inch, 3.5-inch or M.2.
• Use a USB port that matches the speed you want from the drive.
• Back up important data before moving or formatting a drive.
• A 3.5 inch drive needs its own power adapter, which listings say is not included; confirm before buying a 3.5 inch setup.

Who It's Perfect For

• Designers, editors and photographers
• Office users who need extra storage
• IT technicians and data-recovery staff
• Anyone reusing old drives

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the drive included?
No, the drive is sold separately.

How do I know which one I need?
Look at the drive label: SATA 2.5-inch, SATA 3.5-inch, M.2 SATA (NGFF) and M.2 NVMe each need a different product.

Can I read an old laptop hard drive with it?
Yes, a 2.5 inch SATA laptop drive connects directly and is powered over USB.

Does it power a 3.5 inch drive?
Not on its own. A 3.5 inch desktop drive needs a separate 12V power supply.
