UGREEN Mini DisplayPort to HDMI 4K Converter, Black
Product Description
The UGREEN MD112 (part no. 40360) is a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that lets a laptop with a Mini DP or Thunderbolt 1/2 port drive an HDMI monitor, TV or projector at up to 4K@30Hz. The 25 cm cable ends in an HDMI female socket, so you add your own HDMI cable of any length.
A laptop with HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C will not plug straight into a monitor or projector that only has VGA or HDMI. The UGREEN MD112 DisplayPort adapter bridges the two ports so you can use the screen you already have, with 4K output listed. It is made for people whose laptop and display do not share the same video port.
Key Features and Benefits
- Output resolution: Listed for 4K. The screen and the source must support the mode.
- Practical bridge between ports: Keeps older projectors and monitors useful when the laptop has moved on.
- 4K@30Hz: 3840 × 2160 to a 4K TV, or 1080p and 1440p to standard monitors.
- Thunderbolt 1 and 2 compatible: works with the Mini DisplayPort-shaped Thunderbolt ports on 2011 to 2015 Macs, not the USB-C Thunderbolt 3/4 ports.
- Audio over HDMI: passes uncompressed LPCM sound to the TV alongside the picture.
- NXP PTN3361 chip: an active converter, so it also works with graphics cards whose Mini DP port lacks dual-mode (DP++) output.
Made for Life in Nairobi and Across Kenya
Connect a new laptop to the older VGA projector in a boardroom, school hall or church, or plug a laptop into a monitor that only accepts one type of input.
Buying and Setup Tips
- Check the direction: a converter goes from the source port to the display port, and it does not work in reverse in most cases.
- Confirm which ports your laptop and display have before buying.
- If sound is needed, check whether the converter carries audio, and plan a separate audio route if it does not.
- The adapter is one-way: Mini DP source to HDMI display, not HDMI source to a Mini DP monitor.
- For 4K at 60Hz you need a USB-C or full-size DisplayPort 1.2 output and a different adapter.
Who It's Perfect For
- Offices and schools with older projectors
- Laptop users meeting a different port at every venue
- Technicians and IT support
- Anyone reusing an older monitor

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it carry sound?
If audio is not listed for this model, plan a separate audio connection.
Can I use it in reverse?
Most converters work in one direction only. Match the connector on your source device to the input side of the converter.
Will it work with a 2014 MacBook Air?
Yes. That MacBook Air's Thunderbolt 2 port uses the Mini DisplayPort shape and outputs video, so the adapter drives an HDMI monitor or TV from it.
Which HDMI cable do I need?
Any standard HDMI cable with a male plug at both ends. For 4K use a High Speed rated cable; for 1080p any HDMI cable will do.
