UGREEN 2.5-Inch Hard Drive Box, USB-C Enclosure

UGREEN 2.5-Inch Hard Drive Box, USB-C Enclosure

Product Description

The UGREEN US221 is a 2.5 inch SATA 6Gbps hard drive enclosure with a USB Type-C connection. It turns a spare 2.5 inch laptop HDD or SSD into a portable external drive, so it suits anyone reusing an old laptop drive, recovering files from a drive that no longer has a computer to live in, or adding affordable external storage for backups and file transfers.

A spare drive in a drawer, or a laptop drive you need to read on another computer, is useless without the right case or adapter. The UGREEN US221 2.5-inch drive enclosure lets a compatible drive connect to a USB port. Drive sold separately. It is made for people with a spare SSD or hard drive, and technicians who copy or recover drives.

Key Features and Benefits

• 2.5-inch drives: Fits 2.5-inch SATA SSDs and hard drives.
• USB-C connection: USB-C connection.
• SATA III interface: supports 6Gbps SATA drives, so a SATA SSD is not held back by the case itself.
• Type-C connection: connects to modern laptops and desktops, and to older USB-A ports where a suitable cable is used.
• Fits 7mm and 9.5mm drives: covers slim SSDs and the thicker laptop hard disks, with support listed up to 6TB.
• Tool-free fitting: the drive is slotted in without screws or special tools, so a swap takes a minute.
• UASP support: faster, lower-overhead transfers on computers that support it.

Made for Life in Nairobi and Across Kenya

Reuse a spare laptop drive as portable backup storage, carry large video projects between the office in Nairobi and a client site, or read an old drive on a laptop without a SATA slot.

Buying and Setup Tips

• Check your drive type and size first: SATA or NVMe, 2.5-inch, 3.5-inch or M.2.
• Use a USB port that matches the speed you want from the drive.
• Back up important data before moving or formatting a drive.
• The enclosure is for 2.5 inch SATA drives only.
• It does not take NVMe or M.2 SSDs, or 3.5 inch desktop drives.
• A brand new drive may need to be initialised and formatted in your operating system before first use, and a drive that is already formatted will simply appear as a removable disk.

Who It's Perfect For

• Designers, editors and photographers
• Office users who need extra storage
• IT technicians and data-recovery staff
• Anyone reusing old drives

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the drive included?
No, the drive is sold separately.

How do I know which one I need?
Look at the drive label: SATA 2.5-inch, SATA 3.5-inch, M.2 SATA (NGFF) and M.2 NVMe each need a different product.

Can I put an SSD in the UGREEN US221?
Yes. Any 2.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD with a 7mm or 9.5mm thickness fits, which covers most laptop drives.

Will it take an M.2 or NVMe drive?
No, it is built for 2.5 inch SATA drives only. For M.2 drives you need a separate M.2 enclosure.
